American Olympic gymnast and bronze medalist Frederick Richard is in Uganda for a landmark one-week tour aimed at inspiring young athletes and supporting the country’s budding gymnastics scene.
The highlight of his visit is the National Gymnastics Showcase set for June 14th, 2025, at Lion’s Children Park in Tororo District, Eastern Uganda. The event will feature performances by local gymnasts and workshops led by Frederick himself.
His arrival comes on the heels of a historic achievement: on May 2nd, 2025, Frederick broke the Guinness World Record for the most standing backflips in 24 hours, completing an incredible 1,111 flips, surpassing the previous record by 110. This feat was part of a global fundraising campaign to boost gymnastics development in Uganda.
Through his FrederickFlips Foundation, Frederick has officially partnered with the Gymnastics Association of Uganda, aiming to build the country’s first national gymnastics training facility. His visit signals a powerful moment of solidarity and opportunity, opening new doors for Uganda’s next generation of gymnasts.
“Uganda has raw talent and unmatched passion. I’m here to help shine a global light on that potential,” said Frederick during his welcome event.
